A timely update

I am ashamed.  You are at my fingertips and I am too distracted to talk to you.  Every morning I wake and think of you, and each and every night on the long and lonely journey home I think of you.  What must you think.  How must it make you feel.   So here I am, you my customers and potential customers!!   We lov yiz all!!   Isn’t it funny we have txt’ing, emailing, tweeting, facebooking, WordPress, the list is endless and many of us still find it next to impossible to keep up any commentary or dialogue on our webpages or our blogs.  I suspect there is a sizeable chunk of us out there.    No matter how often I say that I am going to get into the discipline of writing something in me distracts me onto other things.   Well we have just a the TriAthlone triathelon in Athlone this weekend and words like amazing, fantastic, buzzing do it an injustice.  The town was packed, she was looking beautiful in the sun.  Bars, cafes and restaurnats, incl little old Kin Khao Thai were doing a a roaring trade.  Well done to the organisers.   Athlone is a really special place to live and visit.  Seeing the participants and spectators having such a ball of a time made me stop and really tell myself how lucky I am to be able to have Kin Khao Thai in a special place like Athlone.  Many of my diners in Kin Khao Thai over the weekend said that Athlone was like a little hidden gem lolling  in the shade of Dublin and Galway.  It has all the amenities of Dublin and Galway, including the Ireland’s Best Thai restaurant, Kin Khao Thai!,  but it also has graet bars, its easy to access, the natives are really friendly, there is plenty of accomodation and there is the long sleek beautiful Shannon running through it.  How lucky we are indeed.  Since I last blogged here alot has happened with Kin Khao Thai.  The biggest bit of news is that the worlkd renowned restaurnat and hotel guide, The Michelin Guide has included Kin Khao Thai in its 2010 edition.  Kin Khao is one of two in Athlone to be included.  So yahoo to that.  The other great occurrance to shine on Kin Khao Thai is that we were voted the 2010 BEST Restaurant in Westmeath by the Restaurants Association of Ireland (RAI).  I have to say I was really moved for two reasons.  One is that the RAI Annual Awards are a customer and peer vote.  Which means that many of our Kin Khao customers and our fellow restaurant owners voted for Kin Khao Thai.   The other reason is that when Janya and I turned up at the ceremony in the Killiney Castle Hotel we thought we were up for the Best Ethnic Award (which would have been great too).  So there we were sitting down the back (old habits die hard) and the Best Restaurant Category came up.  I was actually on my way out for a fag!  Then we heard Kin Khao Thai mentioned, then Kin Khao was on the shortlist and then….. we won!!
